Starting a running thread since the national indexes never match what's on the ground. Post your metro, the segment you watch, and real transaction prices — not asking prices. I'll start: Phoenix, compact SUVs, clean-title 3-year-old examples trading $1,500–$2,000 under last year at franchise auto dealers, but the wholesale lanes have not softened as much.
Used car prices in 2026: what are you actually seeing?
Ohio here, full-size trucks. Retail is sticky but auction prices on 60k+ mile work trucks have come off noticeably since spring. If you're patient and can handle the auction process, the spread over wholesale is the widest I've seen in three years.
New England, sedans: dealer inventory finally back to normal, which means negotiating room is back too. Two stores this month volunteered discounts before I asked. Bring comps.
