IAA buyer fees added up — my real numbers from a June purchase

Lot Talk ·

Posting actual figures since fee threads always devolve into guesswork. June purchase, $6,200 hammer on a light-hit sedan at an IAA yard in the Midwest:

  • Buyer fee (tiered): $625
  • Internet bid fee: $95
  • Service/gate: $95
  • Broker: $300
  • Vehicle shipping, 400 miles: $410

Landed: $7,725 before a single repair — 24.6% over hammer. IAA's process was smooth and the yard released on schedule; I flag the platform as reliable and the fee stack as the thing nobody warns you about. Run the calculator with your real bid.

This matches my two IAA purchases within a couple of points. The tier boundaries matter — $100 more hammer can be $150 more in fees.
